company profile

MAN Ferrostaal Australia / New Zealand are leading suppliers of capital equipment to the printing Industry, notably manroland sheet fed and web presses. We are committed to the implementation of PSO pathways to compliance according to ISO 12647-2

The printing press is the last stage of production when it comes to the final printed sheet. As there are approx. 40 variables that can affect the print quality in the Lithographic offset process, the press is the vital final link.

All new manroland presses must pass a Print Quality Standard (PQS) test. This ensures that the printing press conforms to PSO standards. This process involves ISO 2846-1 inks and standardized analogue positive supplied plates, made at manroland Germany. This is a global standard approach enabling press faults to be identified and corrected, and takes any prepress faults out of the equation. This test can be repeated periodically to ensure the press is conforming to the standard. Older presses can also be tested, so any areas which could impact on the successful implementation of achieving final PSO/ISO 12647-2 compliance can be addressed.

* Pathway to ISO compliance:
- Proof and Print Using software developed by manroland, combined with a scan spectrophotometer, evaluation of the Ugra-FOGRA Medienkeil on the proof, compliance to ISO 12647 according to FOGRA_39L can be determined.

The printing of a test form developed by manroland, determines correct ink density according to ISO L*a*b dry values. The Tonal Value Increase (TVI) can then be calculated for CtP corrections and the test repeated until the desired result is achieved.

* Support and assistance:
MAN Ferrostaal Australia can offer ongoing consultation and periodic checks on the entire process. Reports from Customers who have received this service report massive time savings, reduction of waste and quality improvement are being realized, with overall improvement of press and print quality due to a standardized method of production. End results will be faster make ready times by a close visual match of the proof as both proof and print conform to ISO 126476-2.

If so desired, training can also be given for the Customers own self evaluation. This would require purchasing the “Techkon” scanning RS800 spectrophotometer and “Techkon” scanning RS400 densitometer using the supplied manroland software.
